About Deborah Saki
I’m Dr. Deborah Saki. I recently completed my PhD in Comparative Politics at Georgia State University, where my research focused on peace and post-conflict institution building. I also combined different non-academic interests such as creative writing, and mentorship throughout my doctoral journey, finding where my path lay at the intersection of these interests.
My journey into doctoral education began with excellent grades and assumptions about what “smart students” should do next. I quickly learned that excelling academically doesn’t automatically translate into thriving in a PhD program. Through my own struggles, epiphanies, and eventual clarity, I discovered my passion for supporting other students through their journeys.

What Drives My Work
Having completed my PhD journey, I now channel my experience into supporting others navigating similar paths. My work with 360phd combines my research background, my non-academic pursuits, my teaching experience, and deep commitment to helping students develop the self-awareness needed to make informed decisions about their futures.
Beyond Academic Work
Beyond academia, I enjoy publishing creative pieces, including non fiction and poetry. My essay, ‘How to Live as a Foreigner in America’ which also focuses on the realities of thriving in a foreign place, was nominated for the 2026 Pushcart Prize by the editors of Glassworks at Rowan University. I have also published pieces in Brevity Mag, Ice Floe Press, Kalahari Review and Tampered Press.
